The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is the United States national metrology institute and a federal laboratory within the U.S. Department of Commerce.
NIST develops measurement science, standards and reference data and provides Standard Reference Materials (SRMs), Reference Materials (RMs) and Research Grade Test Materials (RGTMs) used by laboratories for calibration, method validation, quality assurance and measurement traceability.
NIST SRMs are extensively characterised materials supplied with certified property values and associated measurement uncertainties, supporting reliable measurements across fields ranging from metals and manufacturing to chemistry, environmental testing, food and health.
